I chose the movie “Gladiator” because of the similarities to the history in Chapter 4, The Roman Legacy, of our textbook. In the movie “Gladiator”, Russell Crowe played a Roman General named Maximus, who was under the leadership of Caesar Marcus Aurelius. The rule of Marcus Aurelius was marked by a number of social reforms, including laws which changed the positions of women and slaves in Roman society, giving them more rights and protections.

Thanksgiving is a North American holiday celebrating or giving thanks during the season. It is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in the U.S.A and the second Monday of October in Canada. The Thanksgiving weekend is usually a four or five day weekend. Workers are given these days of but are still paid for them. In the play Fences by August Wilson, Troy is shown as a man who has hurt the people who are closest to him without even realizing it. He has acted insensitive and uncaring to his wife, Rose, his brother, Gabriel and his son, Cory. At the beginning of the story, Troy feels he has done right by them. He feels this through out the story. He doesn't realize how much he has hurt them.

The fact that nither the usa not the ussr intended to cuse the cold war is not true. Both countries were to blame, both leaders, stalin and truman encouraged this confrontation to develop. Stalin was an oportunist, and usa took advantage of the powerful position they achieved after the war. Some historians believe that the soviet union was the only one to blame.

Kyleigh’s law was put into play just this past year in May 2010. This law was put into the New Jersey legal system because 6,000 teens died in automobile accidents in 2008. The law states that a teen that has his/her provisional license must have two orange stickers on their front and rear license plates. In my opinion, this law is just another way for the police to target teenagers. Teenagers can then be pulled over for no other reason than being a teenager. I

Can you imagine living a life that most people don’t approve of, not being able to hold hands in public, talk about your loved ones and not be considered normal just because you are gay? These are the struggles millions of Americans face each day because some refuse to accept a “different” lifestyle. All same-sex partners want is the freedom to live at peace and have an equal right to marry.

Had seen on TV "Twilight" the movie trailer when the screen said that a few million copies sold, I am very curious what this is like a book? Why so popular? In the state of mind full of curiosity, I went to the bookstore to buy it. Opened its cover, the first to see the directory, followed by the preface, only to see the first chapter again: "first meeting", the words are as I would like to say that this book - the first meeting.

In the book Antigone by Sophocles the author portrays an image of how society was back in classical Greece. This book gives us a idea of what a woman’s order was in society, family life, death rituals, politics and religion. In Athens the king ruled over the land and its people. If any of his people questioned his leadership, they would be sentenced to death especially a woman such as Antigone.

It was with disbelief and shock that around the world, people saw the news footage of the events on September 11, 2001 of the planes-turned-missiles that saw the destruction of the World Trade Center towers and damage of the Pentagon. What is probably the worst terrorist attack on the United States, is totally inexcusable and to be condemned.
