Good TOK essays have 4 Cs – Clarity, Creativity, Content and Critical thinking

The TOK essay or the Theory of Knowledge essay is one of the requirements of the International Baccalaureate Diploma. This is usually done at the age of eighteen by students who want a holistic education as a basis for higher studies. There are many schools all over the world who offer this international board of education. Students are required to focus on their areas of interest and also work on general subjects such as this for their IB Diploma.
If you are writing a TOK essay here are four points to keep in mind
1/- Clarity

The word clarity in relation to TOK essays is not limited to having a clear thesis statement or introduction. It means that the entire essay should be well structured. There should be a logical flow of thought that indicates your level of commitment and intensity of study. You must remember that the IB Diploma is not an easy qualification to acquire. When you get through the idea it shows that you have mastered quite a few areas of study and also learnt the right techniques to present your views in structured writing.
2/- Creativity

This is a very crucial component of any piece of writing related to the TOK subject. If you are not able to present your personal thoughts or perspectives in the best possible way, it indicates that you have not completed enough research. Unless there is clarity of thought and creative thinking in line with the academic level that you are to write at, the content of your TOK essay might not be good enough. Here one is talking about knowledge issues. Repeating the same point that you have time and again would prove that you do not have sufficient material to write about. It also indicates a lack of commitment to ferret out more information on the topic.
4/- Critical thinking

This is probably the most important aspect of a good essay for your Theory of Knowledge paper. When you refer to the process of critical thinking, it is necessary for you to focus on various arguments and counter-arguments on the topic. Critical thinking is possible only when you look at an issue from various viewpoints. When you present an argument against something, you need to also assess the possibility of a counter-argument. This is the only way to ensure that your essay will explain key concepts in a critical way.
